The bathrooms we see most often in Acton
Much of Acton is late-Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing around Acton Green, Poets' Corner and South Acton, with inter-war semis in West Acton and North Acton and a growing number of conversions and newer apartment blocks near Acton Town and North Acton stations. Each type brings its own starting point for a renovation.
In a terrace, the bathroom usually sits in the rear addition above the kitchen, with the soil pipe on the outside wall and a timber floor that may have moved over a century. Those rooms are rarely larger than about 2 metres by 2 metres, so the layout decisions matter more than the finishes: whether the bath stays, whether a walk-in shower would make the room more useful, and where storage can go without blocking the window. In 1930s semis the bathroom is usually a little bigger and square, which gives more freedom to move the WC or basin if the pipework allows. In converted flats the question is often the shared soil stack and what the lease allows you to change.
A completed Acton bathroom
Our Acton bathroom renovation was a full strip-out and rebuild finished in three weeks: 60 × 60 Calacatta-look floor tiles, a wall-hung Geberit WC on a concealed frame and a wall-mounted basin tap, which keeps the surfaces clear in a modest room. The photographs show the finished bathroom and the stages on site. Your own quotation and specification will reflect your room, but the project is a fair picture of how we work.
What goes into an Acton quotation
The site visit is where the work is agreed. We look at the existing room, the floor, the pipework and the access route, and we discuss the layout and the products you are considering. The written quotation then describes the agreed work and makes clear which materials and products we supply and which you buy yourself. You can choose your own tiles and fittings or ask us to supply them; if you need a separate designer, we can recommend one, with their fees agreed separately.
Planning, parking and skips in Acton
Acton is in the London Borough of Ealing. The council's completed conservation area review includes changes affecting Acton, and the part of Bedford Park that lies in Ealing, near Acton Green, has Article 4 directions covering external alterations to houses. A bathroom renovation is internal work, so these designations usually only matter if the project adds or changes a window, a rooflight or an external flue or vent. Check the individual address rather than the neighbourhood name. See Ealing Council: completed conservation area review and Ealing Council: Article 4 directions.
Most Acton streets are in controlled parking zones. If a skip is needed on the road, Ealing Council charges an extra £50 per skip in a CPZ on top of the licence, payable on application and at each renewal; deliveries to a resident bay need a suspension booked in advance. See Ealing Council: skip licences. For flats, share any information from your building manager about hours, lifts and deliveries when we discuss the project. Local information last checked: 9 October 2026. Check the council's current information for your property before relying on it.
Budget and timescale for an Acton bathroom
Allow around £15,000–£25,000 as a total budget for a complete bathroom renovation, covering labour, building materials, tiles, bathroom fittings and finishes. Products you buy yourself are part of this total. This is a planning range, not a minimum spend or a fixed quotation. Room size, layout and product choices affect the cost. Tell us your budget so we can discuss what is achievable after a free site visit.
Bathroom renovations typically take 2–4 weeks on site, depending on scope; the Acton project above took three. Preparation, ordering and the start date are discussed separately. If you intend to live at home during the work, tell us which facilities will be available so practical arrangements can be made.
Direct contact through handover and afterwards
BathWright has £2 million public liability cover. Our renovation work comes with a 12-month written workmanship guarantee, with the scope and terms provided in the project documentation. This is in addition to your statutory rights; product warranties are separate.
If something needs attention after handover, contact us directly to discuss it and arrange a visit where needed.
Discuss your Acton renovation
We focus on full bathroom renovations and do not take on small repairs or fitting-only jobs. Send your postcode, a description of the room and the changes you have in mind. The initial conversation, site visit and written quotation are free.
