Chiswick kitchens and what a full renovation involves
In Bedford Park, Grove Park and the Glebe Estate the kitchen sits in the rear addition, frequently with an earlier side-return already in place, a solid or suspended timber floor and services that have been added to piecemeal. A full renovation takes the room back to the shell: new electrics and plumbing where they are needed, a level floor, walls made good, then the units, worktops, appliances and lighting installed and the room decorated. In flats on the High Road the kitchen is a galley or an open-plan corner, where the work is about a better layout in the same footprint, extraction and the building's rules on hours and deliveries.
We renovate the existing kitchen footprint. If you are planning to extend, that is a separate project and this page does not cover it.
Your supplier's plan is the starting point
If you have chosen a kitchen supplier, bring the plans, the specification and any delivery information to the site visit. We discuss the kitchen you want alongside the work in the room rather than treating the supplier's order as the whole scope: the supplier's drawings do not usually show the electrics, plumbing, flooring and decoration that turn the units into a finished room. If you have not chosen a supplier, we can recommend options and advise on the layout; a separate designer can also be recommended, with their fees agreed separately.
A typical Chiswick kitchen job
A rear kitchen in a Grove Park terrace, already opened into the dining room by a previous owner, with units from the 1990s, a floor that is not level between the two halves and electrics that have been added to several times. The work takes the room back to the shell, puts in a new circuit for the kitchen, moves the sink to the garden wall, levels the floor across the whole space, makes good the walls, then installs the supplier's units, a quartz worktop, integrated appliances and lighting, and decorates.
Completed kitchens
Our kitchen portfolio includes a navy Shaker kitchen with an oak worktop, a gloss kitchen with a glass splashback and a cashmere and dark wood kitchen, all full renovations in West London homes. They show the standard of finish; your own quotation will reflect your room and your chosen kitchen.
Planning, skips and parking in Chiswick
Most of Chiswick is in the London Borough of Hounslow and the western part of Bedford Park is in Ealing, with conservation areas in both and Article 4 directions in Bedford Park. A kitchen renovation within the room is internal work; these designations normally only matter if the project adds or changes a window, an external door or an extractor vent through an outside wall. See Hounslow Council: conservation area appraisals and maps and Ealing Council: Article 4 directions.
Much of Chiswick is in controlled parking zones; kitchen deliveries are bulky, so a parking suspension for delivery day and a skip licence for the strip-out are booked with the relevant council ahead of the start. Local information last checked: 9 October 2026. Check the council's current information and fees for your property before relying on them.
Budget and programme for a Chiswick kitchen
Allow around £25,000–£50,000 as a total budget for a complete renovation of an existing kitchen, covering labour, building materials, kitchen units, worktops, appliances and finishes. Products you buy yourself are part of this total. This is a planning range, not a minimum spend or a fixed quotation. The guide covers the existing kitchen footprint; layout changes and product choices affect the cost. Tell us your budget so we can discuss what is achievable after a free site visit.
Kitchen timescales depend on the room, the agreed work and product lead times, which for made-to-order kitchens can run to several weeks before anything happens on site. We discuss an indicative programme after the site visit, allowing separately for preparation, ordering and the work in your home, and we plan the sequence so the time without a working kitchen is as short as the scope allows.
Direct contact through handover and afterwards
BathWright has £2 million public liability cover. Our renovation work comes with a 12-month written workmanship guarantee, with the scope and terms provided in the project documentation. This is in addition to your statutory rights; product warranties are separate.
If something needs attention after handover, contact us directly to discuss it and arrange a visit where needed.
Discuss your Chiswick kitchen renovation
We focus on complete kitchen renovations within the existing room and do not take on fitting-only work. Send your postcode, a description of the room, the changes you have in mind and any supplier plans you already have. The initial conversation, site visit and written quotation are free.
