Complete bathroom renovations in Twickenham

Twickenham, St Margarets and Strawberry Hill are family territory: Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis, 1930s houses towards Whitton, and a steady stream of loft conversions adding a second bathroom. BathWright carries out complete bathroom renovations across Twickenham, with layout advice, flexible product supply and a written quotation describing the agreed work. You deal directly with the owner, who has 20 years of hands-on experience and coordinates the team through to handover.

Family bathrooms in Twickenham houses

The typical Twickenham brief is a family bathroom that has to serve several people in the morning: a bath for children, a shower adults want to use, storage for everyone and a layout that does not depend on nobody else needing the room. In the Victorian and Edwardian houses of St Margarets and central Twickenham the bathroom is in the rear addition or on the half-landing, with a timber floor and the soil pipe outside, and often a separate WC that can be joined to it. The 1930s houses towards Whitton and Strawberry Hill have a squarer room at the top of the stairs with more freedom to move fittings.

If it is your only bathroom, tell us who lives at home and what other facilities exist, such as a downstairs WC or a loft en-suite. We tell you honestly how long the room will be out of use and plan the sequence so the gap is as short as the scope allows. School holidays and travel dates are worth mentioning early; the start date is agreed around product deliveries and your calendar.

A typical Twickenham job

A family bathroom in a St Margarets terrace, about 2.6 by 2 metres, serving two adults and two children. The brief is a bath for the children, a shower the adults will use and somewhere to put everything. The layout keeps a bath along the end wall, adds a walk-in shower with a glass screen beside it, a wall-hung WC and a double-drawer vanity with a mirror cabinet above, and a recessed niche in the shower. The old pipework is replaced with the floor up and the room is tanked before tiling.

What a Twickenham quotation covers

A quotation follows a free site visit, because the room decides the work: the floor construction, where the stack is, how the fittings can move and how the team will get materials in. We agree the layout and the products with you, then put the whole scope in writing with a clear line between what we supply and what you buy. If a separate designer is wanted, we can suggest one; their fees are agreed with them.

Conservation areas, skips and parking in Twickenham

Richmond Council lists separate conservation area statements including Twickenham Green, Twickenham Riverside and St Margarets. Because a bathroom renovation happens inside the building, conservation area status is usually irrelevant to it; it becomes relevant only where the project adds or alters a window, a rooflight or an external flue or vent, and then the individual address, not the neighbourhood, decides. See Richmond Council: conservation area statements.

For a skip or delivery day on a Richmond street with controlled parking, the bay is suspended through Richmond Council's suspension service, which needs the application at least ten working days ahead and charges an administration fee plus a daily rate per bay. Local information last checked: 9 October 2026. Check the council's current information and fees for your property before relying on them.

Budget and timescale for a Twickenham bathroom

Allow around £15,000–£25,000 as a total budget for a complete bathroom renovation, covering labour, building materials, tiles, bathroom fittings and finishes. Products you buy yourself are part of this total. This is a planning range, not a minimum spend or a fixed quotation. Room size, layout and product choices affect the cost. Tell us your budget so we can discuss what is achievable after a free site visit.

On site, a full renovation usually takes between two and four weeks depending on what is agreed. Before that come preparation and product ordering, and the start date is fixed once deliveries are known. If you will be living at home, tell us what other facilities you have and we plan the sequence around them.

Direct contact through handover and afterwards

BathWright has £2 million public liability cover. Our renovation work comes with a 12-month written workmanship guarantee, with the scope and terms provided in the project documentation. This is in addition to your statutory rights; product warranties are separate.

After handover you still deal with the same person: if anything needs looking at, you contact the owner directly and a visit is arranged where it is needed.

Discuss your Twickenham renovation

Our work is complete bathroom renovations; we do not do small repairs or fit bathrooms bought elsewhere as a stand-alone job. To start, send your postcode, a short description of the room and what you want to change. The first conversation, the site visit and the written quotation cost nothing.

Before we begin

A few useful answers.

Can we stay at home while our only bathroom in Twickenham is renovated?

Often, yes, if there is a downstairs WC and somewhere to shower for a couple of weeks. We tell you at the site visit how long the room will be out of use and sequence the work so that the longest gap is as short as the scope allows; we cannot promise the room stays usable throughout.

Can a family bathroom have both a bath and a separate shower?

In a room of about 2.5 by 2 metres or larger, usually yes. In a smaller room a shower bath with a glass screen keeps a bath and gives a full-size shower in the same footprint. We measure and show you both options at the site visit.

Can a separate WC be combined with the bathroom?

Usually, and it is one of the most useful changes in an older Twickenham house. We check whether the dividing wall carries any load and where the soil pipe runs before confirming the layout and the cost.

Does a Twickenham conservation area affect an internal bathroom renovation?

Not normally. Conservation area rules apply to external changes such as new windows, rooflights or flues. If your project includes one, we flag it before the scope is agreed and you confirm the position with Richmond Council for the address.

How do I arrange a bathroom quotation in Twickenham?

Contact us with your postcode, a description of the room, the changes you have in mind and any dates that matter to your household. We arrange a free site visit before preparing a written quotation.
